Is this an official BMW product?
No, and we would rather say so on the page than let you find out later. This is an aftermarket accessory made by Etchcraft Emporium in Delhi. We are not affiliated with BMW, not endorsed by BMW and not licensed by BMW — the name appears here only to tell you which car the shape is modelled on.
If you specifically want factory merchandise, a BMW dealership is where to buy it, and it will cost considerably more than this.
Does it have the BMW logo on it?
No. It is the outline of the car — the profile, the roofline, the stance — cut from steel. There is no roundel and no badge anywhere on it. What people recognise is the shape, which is the point.
Which BMW does the sedan shape suit?
It is a sedan profile rather than a scale model of one specific chassis, so it reads as a saloon rather than as a particular series. If you drive an SUV, we make the SUV shape instead, and that is the one to pick.
What is it made of, and will it rust?
Stainless steel, in a silver finish, on a steel key ring. It does not rust, does not tarnish and does not leave a mark on your hands or pocket. It is a key accessory rather than jewellery — it is meant to be knocked about.
Will it scratch my key fob?
The edges are finished round rather than left as cut, which is what causes the problem on cheaper pressed keychains. It sits on the ring alongside the fob rather than against its face, so in normal use it does not mark it.
Can I get my registration number on it instead?
Yes — that is a different product. Our Personalised Number Plate Car Keychain is engraved with your own registration on both sides, at the same price, with the engraving included. This one is the plain car shape.
Is it a good gift for someone who has just bought a car?
It is one of the easier ones to get right. There is no size, no colour to match and nothing to ask them in advance, which is what makes it work as a surprise — and it is specific enough to read as chosen rather than picked up at the last minute. New car, first birthday after, or the day the loan clears.
